Graduate Certificate

Curriculum Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA) requires 15 credit hours/ 5 classes. Students may transfer up to 15 credit hours from the Graduate Certificate to the Data Science and Business Analytics master’s degree.

  • DSBA 6201 Business Intelligence and Analytics
  • DSBA 5122 Visual Analytics and Storytelling
  • DSBA 6276 Strategic Business Analytics

Elective Courses (3 credits)

Choose one elective course:

  • DSBA 6156 Applied Machine Learning
  • DSBA 6211 Advanced Analytics
  • DSBA 6122 – Decision Modeling and Analysis

Admissions Overview

In addition to the general requirements for admission to UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School, the following are required for the Graduate Certificate in Data Science & Business Analytics:

  • A bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 (based on a 4.0 scale) on all previous coursework completed beyond high school
  • An online application through the Graduate School’s application system
  • Unofficial transcripts of all attempted college courseworkOptional – Resume or CV
  • Official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores for international applicants whose first language is not English

Prerequisites

  • Current working knowledge of one higher-level (procedural) language, and familiarity with computer applications.
  • Minimal background in mathematics, including one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics.
